Creating regular backups is an important part of protecting your website, files, databases and other hosting data.
How to create a backup in cPanel
1. Log in to your cPanel account.
2. Open the Files section.
3. Click Backup or Backup Wizard, depending on the options available in your cPanel account.
4. Choose the type of backup you want to create.
Depending on your hosting configuration, you may be able to create:
- A full account backup
- A home directory backup
- A MySQL database backup
- An email configuration backup
- Other supported partial backups
Full backup
A full backup can include the files and configuration associated with your hosting account.
Select the available full backup option and follow the instructions shown in cPanel.
You may be asked to choose a backup destination and provide an email address for notification when the backup has completed.
Partial backups
If you only need specific data, you can download individual backups such as your home directory or databases.
This can be useful when making changes to a website, migrating data or keeping an additional local copy of important information.
Important
Backup availability and restore options depend on your hosting plan and server configuration.
A backup stored only on the same hosting server should not always be considered your only backup copy.
Where possible, keep important backups in a separate secure location.
Before making major website, application or database changes, we recommend creating a current backup.
