Before you start
Make sure you have the following information:
- Your full email address

- SSL/TLS requirements
The exact settings depend on your hosting configuration.
How to add your email account to Outlook
1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
2. Open Account Settings or Add Account.
3. Enter your full email address.
4. If Outlook detects the settings automatically, follow the instructions shown on screen.
5. If automatic setup does not work, choose the manual or advanced configuration option.
6. Select IMAP or POP3 according to your requirements.
7. Enter the incoming mail server.
8. Enter the outgoing SMTP server.
9. Enter your full email address as the username where required.
10. Enter the password for your email account.
11. Configure the required ports and SSL/TLS settings.
12. Save the configuration and allow Outlook to test the connection.
Recommended protocol
IMAP is generally recommended when you want your email to remain synchronized across multiple devices.
POP3 may be suitable in some situations where messages are primarily downloaded to a single device.
Outgoing mail authentication
SMTP authentication is normally required.
Make sure the outgoing mail server is configured to use authentication with your email account username and password where required.
Troubleshooting
If Outlook cannot connect, check:
- The email address and password are correct.
- The incoming and outgoing server names are correct.
- The port numbers are correct.
- SSL/TLS settings match the server configuration.
- SMTP authentication is enabled where required.
- Your network or security software is not blocking the connection.
